TAP was based on a powerful concept: social networking will allow a global work force to collaborate more efficiently and develop innovations more quickly than traditional methods. Maria’s success with TAP, including a revolutionary approach to providing the infrastructure needed to support the program (one of the first examples of “cloud” computing), led her to her current position as IBM vice president of cloud enablement. Maria’s contributions to technology, along with her outstanding leadership skills, have garnered worldwide recognition, including induction into the Women In Technology International (WITI) Hall of Fame in 2006. She was also named one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” by People Espagnal Magazine in 2006. Maria has 48 patents and 41 pending patents that span a wide spectrum of technologies including telecommunications, web servers, Transcoder technology, Java implementation and enhancements, and data manipulation. |
